Since the foundation

The Perrando Museum, officially inaugurated on September 17, 1967, was initially located on the second floor of the building.

On April 26, 1980, the library was inaugurated on the first floor, thus creating that cultural center that would bear witness to the ancient historical tradition of the town.

Thanks to the Amici del Sassello APS association, its founder and managing body through an agreement with the Municipality of Sassello, the museum has undergone various transformations in recent decades. Also in collaboration with the Comprehensive Institute of Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School of Sassello, it has focused its greatest efforts on making the visit as educational as possible.

The entire building in via dei Perrando is now divided as follows:

ground floor - permanent exhibition of material culture, macachi model “A town to see”

first floor - library, historical archive, reading rooms, Tarari Tararera library from 0 to 16 years.

second floor - museum sections (naturalistic, prehistoric, medieval, artistic).

garden - outdoor reading room and event space.

Meanwhile, in the new museum center located in the former Franciscan convent, on the first floor are the Napoleonic room, the one dedicated to Contemporary Art thanks to the Bianchi Collection and, from June 2024, the Museum of the Sassellese Dialect.
